Thank you for your interest in Mersey and West Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust (MWL) and in this significant board position as our Chair. I am delighted to welcome you to our special microsite where you can explore this exciting opportunity to lead our board and help shape the future of the services we provide.

Having joined the organisation in 2015 and recently stepped into the role of Chief Executive, I consistently witness firsthand the remarkable commitment of our team to delivering excellence in everything we do. Rated as Outstanding by the Care Quality Commission, our mission to provide “Five-Star Patient Care” is not just a slogan—it’s the foundation of our culture and values.

We take immense pride in being a values-driven organisation. Our MWL values developed for our newly formed organisation were thoughtfully co-produced in collaboration with our teams, ensuring they reflect who we are and the principles that guide us.

This is an incredibly exciting time for us.  St Helens and Knowsley Teaching Hospitals and Southport and Ormskirk Hospital NHS Trusts came together to form Mersey and West Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust in July 2023.  We’ve entered a new era filled with opportunities to maximise the benefits of our strengthened structure, for our staff and the patients we serve. We are looking for a Chair who shares our passion for making a difference, someone who will lead our Board with experience, vision, and dedication as we continue to build on our legacy of excellence.
